The Perfect Day

I headed up to Donner Pass to Boreal Ski Resort in the morning to find perfect snowboarding conditions. It was sunny but cold, and it had snowed the night before. There was fresh powder to cover up the ice that is usually present this time of year. We ended up spending a lot of time on the tree runs laying fresh tracks.

Around 2 PM it had warmed up, and the snow was getting slushy. Since the Truckee River wasn't too far away, we changed out of our snow clothes and traded them for waders. The usual afternoon wind was blowing in Truckee. There were bugs coming off of the water, though, and the fish were actively feeding. I managed to land 2 fish: a 15" rainbow and a 19" brown.

Does it get any better than this?
