Yuba River

I have been fishing the Yuba River quite a bit lately. The water clarity hasn't been all that great because of all the rain we've received in the past month, but the fishing has been good. There are some spring run steelhead in the river as well as resident rainbows. These fish are super-charged! There are tons of insects in the river to keep the fish healthy and full of energy. The Yuba is definitely one of my favorite rivers to fish. Recently, the Skwala stoneflies have been hatching along with some March Brown mayflies (I think we should change their name to March-April Browns).

Here is picture of a nice rainbow taken on a March-April Brown. Can you see the guy in the background? That's where I hooked the fish. He took me for a ride.

Here is another picture of a hard-fighting rainbow I landed on a recent float trip on a rainy day on the Yuba.

  1. You are the same old Jason--and that's awesome! Benjamin loves fishing, and we have taken the boys to a rainbow trout farm. Only problem is that they are too easy to catch. The fish have no chance from the beginning!
