Independence Day

Before I had to go to work Mom, Evelyn and I decided to check out the festivities at the Dixon Fairgrounds. This year was the 2nd Annual Independence Day Celebration, consisting of old-fashioned games for both youth and adults, food booths from local non-profit organizations, a classic car and motorcycle show, live music, a demolition derby and a fireworks finale. It was a lot smaller than the Mayfair, but it was fun to see. As you can see by the pictures, Evelyn had fun waving her flag around.

I am so thankful for all the men and women who have worked so hard to protect the freedom we enjoy in this country. We are so blessed. I know that too often I take it for granted that I can wear what I want to, say what I please, and more importantly worship how, where, or what I may. I am glad that we have set this day apart to reflect on these great blessings and sacrifices made by others on our behalf.
