Happy 5th Anniverary!

Wow! I can hardly believe that we've been married for five years now. It seems like it wasn't that long ago that we were kneeling across an altar making a sacred covenant with Heavenly Father. I remember that our faces hurt so bad that day, because we couldn't stop smiling. We were so happy. My cheeks may not hurt everyday from smiling all the time, but I still feel that wonderful happiness being married to Jason.

This year we had the opportunity to go to South Lake Tahoe. We've tried to celebrate our anniversaries by doing some adventurous sort of thing. One year we went para sailing, and this year we rode the zip line at Heavenly in South Lake Tahoe, CA. The Heavenly Flyer is a vertical 525 foot drop. At 3,100 feet, the Heavenly Flyer is the longest ZipRider in the lower 48 U.S. states. I was so nervous sitting in the harness with my knees pressed against the gate waiting for it to open. But once the gate opened it was so much fun to fly over the trees. I think the initial waiting was the scariest part. In the end we both wished it had gone just a little faster.

If you decide to go, you definitely need to call ahead and make reservations. We drove to Tahoe on Friday and by noon they were already booked for the day. Fortunately we were spending the night and able to get one of the two remaining time slots for the next day.

Jason took about a 100 pictures of the moon. If you zoom in on this picture you can see it in between the two middle trees. It kind of looks more like a smudge on the lens. Much more beautiful in person.

Lake Tahoe is so blue

After taking this shot Jason and I realized that we don't exactly look the same way we did five years ago. Our faces appear somewhat swollen compared to our wedding photos. We named this condition Mountainitis. It happens when you go to a higher elevation than you are normally accustomed to and your body swells due to the decrease in atmospheric pressure. In some rare cases, your body remains swollen and puffy in certain spots (i e. your stomach, hips, or double chin area) even after you have returned to your normal elevation. Well, we may not look the same as we did on our wedding day but we're still so much in love. Our love has grown as we've shared these last five years. We've been blessed with a beautiful daughter who adds so much joy to our lives. I'm so thankful that Jason was patient and asked me to marry him. I love him today even more than I did on the wonderful day in June (the 26th, right?) when we were sealed to one another. I look forward to the experiences we will share as we continue our journey through this life together. I am certain that my love for him will continue to grow even though it is hard to imagine loving him more than I do today.
